Chenin who? Chenin Blanc

When it’s over 100 degrees outside you base your wine blog on a grape that is refreshing and best served chilled! This week we will be discussing Chenin Blanc.

Chenin Blanc is a white grape that originates from France, but is mostly grown in South Africa. It’s known for a bold fruit flavor with high acidity. Typically you will taste lemon, apple, pear, and honey. Some Chenin Blancs have some herbal notes as well like chamomile.

If you are like us and wondering uh how do you pronounce this delightful sounding wine wonder no more: “shen-in blonk.” It is considered an Aromatic White Wine. They pair really with anything sweet and sour or spicy think Asin or Indian. Not that it really matters because if you are like us and you find a bottle you like you are gonna drink it regardless of the food.

Chenin Blanc is not typically expensive; it is a lower priced grape. It’s also not meant to be hoarded much like rosé you should drink that bottle within 2 years.

When Lindsey told me we were tasting Chenin this week I was like ehhhh I don’t know if I have ever tasted it. So this should be interesting! Stay tuned for the tasting review coming later this week!!
