Rosé All Day!

Rose All Day…..Porch Pounder

Rosé is the oldest known type of wine.  You will see Rosé labeled Rosé (French, Portuguese, and English speaking countries), Rosado (Spanish), Rosato (Italian).

If you actually thought it was just white and red wine mixed together you are wrong and should be hanging out with my 3 year old and not drinking. Rosé color is made when the juice stays in contact with the dark red skins for a short period of time, before it can take on all the characteristics of a red wine. This is why Rosé has some of the qualities and flavors of red wine, but is lighter and fruitier making it a great Porch Pounder on hot humid days. If only we would have known about Rosé in college….

Rosé is best served chilled.

Rosé should be pounded, not hoarded. If you are someone (we don’t know who would actually do this because the point of buying wine is to drink it) who saves wine thinking it gets better with age Rosé doesn’t. Pound that bottle once it’s chilled and pair it with just about anything, but a great pairing is a BBQ or anything grilled.  Rosé is perfect for warmer weather conditions, so think of this as a great wine for that 4th of July BBQ you will be attending next week.

For each wine review we will sample one together and then tell you one or two of our personal favorites. We may change it up weekly because frankly who doesn’t like buying wine and trying new ones. So stay tuned for Thursday when we give you our Rosé picks and some reviews!
